Students at the Aristotle University College of Law who are enrolled in either the J.D. program which is intended to qualify them to sit for the State of California Bar Exam, or the non-State Bar qualifying Executive J.D. program, are advanced in standing according to the following guidelines:
Advancement from First to Second Year
- Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00
- Students must be in academic and administrative good standing
- Successfully passed the FYLSE within the three consecutive administrations of the test (from the time at which the student first becomes eligible to take the FYLSE) (FYLSE Not required in Executive J.D. program)
- Students who do not successfully pass the FYLSE will be considered First Year Law Students until the time they do pass the FYLSE.
- Any student with a cumulative grade point average of less than 2.00 (but not equal to or less than 1.5) at the end of the first year will be advanced (if the pass the FYLSE) but will be placed on academic probation.
Advancement from Second to Third Year
- Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 at the end of the second year
- Students must be in academic and administrative good standing
- Any student with a cumulative grade point average of less than 2.00 (but not equal to or less than 1.5) at the end of the second year will be advanced but will be placed on academic probation.
Advancement from the Third to Fourth Year
- Students must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.00 at the end of the third year
- Students must be in academic and administrative good standing
- Any student with a cumulative grade point average of less than 2.00 (but not equal to or less than 1.5) at the end of the third year will be advanced but will be placed on academic probation.
